When Should You Start Using a Dog Joint Supplement?
Supplements are an excellent addition to your dog’s daily diet.
Your puppy can begin receiving supplements as early as one year of age.
Larger breed puppies are more prone to joint problems and can begin taking joint supplements as early as 8 weeks of age.
Joint supplements help to lubricate joints, repair cartilage, and strengthen joints.
Supplements are also beneficial because they reduce inflammation and thus pain.
As the saying goes, prevention is better than cure, so starting them early can help them stave off potential problems that occur when they are grown.

What is YuMOVE?
YuMOVE is a brand of supplements from the company Lintbells Veterinary.
They are based in the United Kingdom (but also available in the United States) and the company was started by Dr. John Howie and John Davis over 15 years ago.
At that time, there were really just 2 choices when it comes to supplements for dogs.
They were either cheap and ineffective, or they were overpriced and not fully effective.
This led them to start their own research and produce their own line of completely natural supplements.

Suffice it to say, it was a success as it grew to become one of the top supplements companies in the UK as well as serving the global community.
One of the standout factors is the fact that they conduct regular testing of their products, and they work closely with the Royal Veterinary College for trials.
They are also the only pet joint supplements clinically proven by the Royal Veterinary College to make a visible difference in just six weeks.
YuMOVE is also endorsed by the American Kennel Club and was recently announced as its official joint health supplement.
I should say, what they have done has been mighty impressive thus far.
“YuMOVE provides significant improvements in canine mobility over six weeks.”

Unfortunately, the full research papers are not allowed to be published openly as that will turn the company into a medicine provider, which requires a different type of operating license.
YuMOVE Reviews
One great tool to assess a product before buying it is to read reviews on blogs (something like what you are reading now) or on review platforms like TrustPilot.
On this platform, you will find over 45,000 independent reviews for YuMOVE, 89% of which are scoring them 5/5.
Here are a few that stood out to us:
All three of our dogs take Yu Move and it has definately helped improve their mobility, especially our nearly 15 year old Labrador who is doing amazingly. On one occassion our two boys, aged 2 and 11, got hold of a months supply that came through the letter box whilst we were out and ate the lot. It is a completely natural product so neither of them suffered any ill effects.
Great product but not a great experience with the subscription service. My first order (after the initial trial period) did not arrive after more than 7 days so I had to contact the company. They have now sent a replacement, which will arrive soon hopefully. However, it means my dog will be without her yumove for approx 2 weeks, not acceptable. I’ll see if the next order arrives on time, if not I’ll purchase it elsewhere.
I’m also really happy to see that the company takes the time to respond to 99% of its negative reviews, showing its commitment to excellence.
Is YuMOVE Good for Dogs?
Now that you know a bit more about the company, let’s tackle the most important question.
Is YuMOVE good for your dog? How does it help?
First off, YuMOVE is made from 100% natural ingredients so you don’t have to worry about your furry friend getting sick from it.
Its core product, YuMOVE Joint Care (US store here), was developed to help dogs deal with stiffness in their joints.
This supplement is made of a range of ingredients that were specially formulated to lubricate and strengthen joints, providing Omega-3, and providing mobility.
One of its key ingredients is the proprietary ActivEase Green Lipped Mussel, which is 30x more powerful than its powder contemporaries.
The ingredients in YuMOVE work together to promote mobility, flexibility, and comfort, which can help your dog live a happy, active life.
A quick look at the results from fellow dog owners will reveal that YuMOVE is indeed highly effective, and does not have much of a side effect since it is made of all-natural ingredients.
It is not uncommon to come across senior dogs that have seen improvements in their ability to walk and remain active even in their golden years.
Does YuMOVE Have Side Effects?
Many joint supplements contain an excessive amount of glucosamine sulfate, which can cause some effects such as diarrhea, vomiting, or nose bleeds.
However, YuMOVE users do not report any significant side effects, except on rare occasions when it can cause a bit of digestive upset.
This is due to a change in what a dog eats and usually goes away in a few days.
The trick is to introduce the supplement slowly at the start to let your dog acclimatize to it.
How Quickly Does YuMOVE Work?
In most cases, dog owners will notice an improvement as soon as 1 to 2 weeks after feeding their pets YuMOVE.
After 6 weeks, you should see the full effects of the supplement, but do take note this is different from dog to dog.
This is in line with the research conducted by the Royal Veterinary College which shows significant improvements in dogs after 6 weeks of using YuMOVE.
Do Vets Recommend YuMOVE?
Yes, YuMOVE is highly recommended by lots of veterinarians around the world.
In fact, YuMOVE works with them to constantly test out their products to ensure they are the best fit for dogs.
The main reasons for vets supporting YuMOVE are that the supplement is proven to support long-term mobility, makes use of a dog’s natural inflammatory response, and does not cause any serious side effects.
Here’s a short write-up from Orchard Vets in Somerset, UK.
You can also check in with your vet on your next visit if you wish to have peace of mind.
Which is the Strongest YuMOVE?
If your dog is suffering from severe joint issues that are impacting its mobility, you should consider using YuMOVE Joint Care Plus.
This was developed for senior dogs in mind and contains 20% more ActivEase® Green Lipped Mussel than the original formula.
What is the Difference Between YuMOVE and YuMOVE Plus?
The main difference between YuMOVE and YuMOVE plus is that YuMOVE PLUS for Dogs has 20% more ActivEase Green Lipped Mussel.
It also has a higher level of Hyaluronic Acid that aids the synovial fluid and the added ingredient of N-Acetyl-D-Glucosamine which acts as a support for the Synovial Fluid (the shock absorber of the joint).
Is YuMOVE Good for Older Dogs?
YuMOVE Joint Care comes in 3 formulations for young dogs, adults, and seniors.
If your senior dog is not showing any serious deterioration in its mobility, you can continue to use YuMOVE, but otherwise, it might be time to switch to YuMOVE Joint Care Plus.
Other Supplement Products From YuMOVE
The YuMOVE Joint Care supplement is its flagship products and it comes in tablet form.
Alternatively, you can consider getting them in chew bites that might suit your dog better.
Beyond joint health, YuMOVE also has the following products available:

Where to Buy YuMOVE Supplements?
Currently, you can view all of its products from its website, which offers either one time purchases or on a subscription basis.
Some of its products are also available on Amazon, but if you want the full range, the YuMOVE website is the place to go.
If you live outside of the United Kingdom or the United States, you might need to turn to your local pet supplier to see if it is available.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Is YuMOVE good for arthritis in dogs?
Yes, YuMOVE is good for dogs suffering from arthritis. It contains glucosamine, a compound that is very important in building cartilage and thus, ‘oiling’ joints. With YuMOVE, your dog can get a daily boost in glucosamine which can help reduce the progression of dog arthritis while reducing pain and increasing mobility.
What is the difference between YuMOVE and YuMOVE advance 360?
The main difference between YuMOVE Joint Care and YuMOVE Advance 360 is that the Advance formula needs to be prescribed by a vet. This formula is used in more severe cases, and the formula is made to be extra strength. Your dog will need to take double the usual dosage required in the first 4 weeks to see faster results.
Is YuMOVE an anti-inflammatory?
Yes, as YuMOVE contains glucosamine and chondroitin, which are natural anti-inflammatories. Once your dog starts taking YuMOVE, they will feel less pain and stiffness in their joints.
Does YuMOVE make dogs thirsty?
No, YuMOVE does not make dogs thirsty beyond their usual water needs.
In Conclusion: Is YuMOVE good for dogs?
YuMOVE is an excellent product that truly does wonders for dogs’ joint health.
It’s really not that expensive (about 38p per tablet for the YuMOVE Joint Care for Adult Dogs), and a subscription plan will help you to lower the cost even further.
Getting free shipping is also a big plus, so, in my book, it’s a winner!
