Tulsa police arrested a man accused of threatening a woman and her dog with a gun outside a convenience store. Officers responded on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, to a report of someone pointing a firearm at the Stop-N-Save near North Garnett Road and East Brady Street.

Police said it began when a woman tried to use an electrical outlet outside the business. The suspect, who is not an employee, told her to stop using it.

The woman walked away and sat down near the dumpsters on the southeast side of the property with her dog. Surveillance video shows the suspect following her there, carrying a black pouch.

As he approached, police said the dog began to barking. He reached into the pouch, pulled out a handgun, and pointed it at the dog.

Police said he threatened to shoot the woman and her dog, and also threatened her boyfriend. Officers arrived quickly after the initial report.

Before they arrived, police believe the suspect placed the pouch on top of an outdoor ice box. Officers found it inside: an unloaded, rusty Rock Island 1911 .45 caliber pistol and a fully loaded 8-round magazine.

A search of the suspect turned up marijuana and a bottle holding 28 ecstasy pills. Police said he admitted the drugs were his but insisted the gun wasn’t.

He was booked into the Tulsa County Jail on charges of assault with a dangerous weapon, threatening an act of violence, possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance. He was also booked on Tulsa County warrants.

FOX23 did not share his name or photo because official charges hadn’t been filed yet.

My thoughts:

The detail that stands out is how small the trigger was. It started with someone using an outdoor outlet, and the woman did what most people would do, which was walk away.

The dog barking appears to be what escalated it, and a woman and her dog were then threatened with a gun in broad daylight. Whatever the gun’s condition turned out to be, they had no way of knowing it was unloaded in the moment.

The suspect has been booked, not convicted, and formal charges hadn’t been filed at the time of the report. For now, the confirmed part is what police and surveillance video describe.
