In a shocking act of cruelty, a dog was callously shot in the head and left for dead in a roadside ditch in the ghost town area of Carbon County, Utah.
But this pup’s harrowing tale took an inspiring turn when a family out for a drive miraculously spotted his frail body clinging to life.
Tanner Tamllos and her father were cruising through the rural Utah county when she peered out the window and gasped at the disturbing sight of the wounded dog lying motionless in a ditch.

As they approached, it was clear the animal was in dire straits – emaciated, bloody head wounds, but somehow still breathing.
Rushing him to a veterinary clinic, x-rays delivered the sickening revelation that the dog, now nicknamed “BluJay” by his rescuers, had been shot point-blank between the eyes, with one bullet lodged dangerously in his throat.
Vets warned the courageous canine only had a 10% chance of survival.
In an outpouring of community support, local businesses rallied to help cover BluJay’s treatment costs through donations after his heartbreaking plight hit the news.
Against all odds, the tough pup made it through a harrowing first surgery to remove bullets from his throat and left eye socket.
While BluJay still faces further operations and a long road to recovery, his survival so far is being hailed as an “Easter miracle” and testament to his incredible fighting spirit.
The Carbon County Sheriff’s Office is now investigating this sickening case of animal cruelty to find the perpetrator.
For the family who discovered the discarded dog, they feel blessed to have been BluJay’s last hope, with Tamllos expressing that “it was almost like God put us there at the right time just to find him.”
