Police in Victoria have launched an intensive investigation following a frightening incident where a group of dogs successfully intervened to protect two women from an attacker.

The incident occurred during the day along a popular recreational concrete walkway and drainage reserve area, where two women were suddenly approached by an unknown man. According to authorities, the man allegedly attempted to assault the women, catching them completely off guard in the public space.

Before the situation could escalate further, a pack of local dogs walking in the area sensed the danger and immediately sprang into action. The dogs began barking aggressively and charged toward the aggressive individual, effectively creating a barrier between him and the victims. Faced with multiple protective canines advancing on him, the suspect panicked, turned around, and fled the scene on foot down the concrete basin.

Detectives have released a digital composite sketch of the suspect in hopes that members of the public can help identify him. The man is described as having a dark complexion and was last seen wearing a light grey hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled up, alongside a black fabric mask obscuring the lower half of his face. Investigators are urging anyone who was near the drainage reserve or recognizes the description of the man to come forward immediately to assist with the ongoing criminal investigation.
