Life with our four-legged friends isn’t always a walk in the park.

Despite it being the Friday before Memorial Day, the team at Silverstray didn’t hesitate.

They dispatched Layce, one of their volunteers, to the scene.

Upon arrival, Layce found the pups safely tucked away in a makeshift shelter, thanks to our quick-thinking dog walker.

But the situation was dire.

These little ones were skin and bones, initially mistaken for 2-month-old puppies.

The truth?

They were half a year old, their growth stunted by severe malnutrition.

Kelly Carey, the founder of Silverstray Social, shared her shock with The Dodo: “What everybody thought [were] 6- to 8-week-old puppies ended up being 6-month-old puppies… That’s how malnourished they were.”

But rather than deflate their spirits, this revelation only fueled their determination to turn the tide for these unfortunate pooches.

Wasting no time, Kelly reached out to her network, searching for a safe haven for the six.

Her efforts paid off when Guardians of the Green Mile stepped up to the plate.

Before their big move, the pups spent a cozy night with a big-hearted volunteer.

According to a Facebook post by Guardians of the Green Mile, all six furry friends got a clean bill of health from the vet and found loving foster homes. “Despite the look of them, they are all very sweet and friendly pups with great dispositions,” they shared.

From the moment our hero spotted them, these pups’ fortunes began to change.

Hope now sparkles in their eyes, a stark contrast to their grim beginnings.

It’s amazing how one person’s compassion can set off a chain reaction of kindness, bringing light to even the darkest situations.
