Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton are mourning the loss of their dog Betty, who died at 18 years old. Stefani shared the news on Instagram on Saturday, September 5, 2026, posting a montage of photos and video clips set to the couple’s 2019 duet “Nobody But You,” which Betty had also appeared in years earlier.

Stefani wrote that Betty “made us all smile for 18 years… we’re going to miss her forever,” thanking the dog for the love and joy she brought into their lives. Betty was originally Shelton’s dog, adopted before he and Stefani began dating in 2015. It reportedly took some time for Betty to bond with Stefani, but the two eventually grew close. Speaking to CMT in 2020, Shelton joked that Betty had become “Gwen’s dog,” with Stefani adding that Betty loved both of them equally. Jingletree
The couple, who married in 2021, are also parents to a mixed-breed dog named Ginger and a rescue cat named Corn, who they took in after he showed up on their property in poor health in 2024. Fans flooded Stefani’s post with condolences and messages of support.
My thoughts: Eighteen years is a full life for a dog, and it’s clear from the timeline that Betty was around for a lot of it, before Stefani and Shelton even met, through their relationship, their marriage, and even a cameo in one of their music videos. There’s something fitting about the tribute being set to a song Betty was actually part of. It’s a reminder that pets like Betty end up woven into a family’s whole story, not just a chapter of it.
