A Golden Retriever was safely brought back to shore on Wednesday afternoon after getting caught in a strong ocean current off Codfish Park in Nantucket, Massachusetts.
The rescue operation involved a coordinated effort between the Nantucket Harbormaster, local police officers, and a nearby charter fishing crew.

Key details of the water rescue include:
- Immediate Emergency Response: Upon learning the dog was swept away while swimming, the Nantucket Harbormaster deployed a team equipped with a kayak, rescue board, retrieval gear, and two lifeguards. Local police officers simultaneously scanned the water from the shoreline.
- Charter Crew Assistance: The harbormaster reached out to Captain Bill Tolstead of a nearby charter boat to check for vessels in the vicinity. Tolstead and his crew immediately halted their fishing trip to join the search.
- Guided to Safety: Beachgoers along the coast gestured toward the dog’s location in the water, allowing Captain Tolstead and his crew to locate the animal, pull it aboard, and transport it safely back to land.
- Official Recognition: The Nantucket Harbormaster publicly commended Tolstead and his crew for their compassion, teamwork, and quick decision to drop everything to assist.
