The touching tale of Moose, a lovable canine in search of a forever home, has captured hearts across social media, as shared by Mayflower Animal Sanctuary in Doncaster, U.K.

This 5-year-old mix breed dog has faced the sorrow of two unsuccessful adoptions, leaving him without a family for over 520 days.

In a heartfelt TikTok video posted by the sanctuary under the handle mayflower.sanctuary, the plea made clear: “This incredible pup, lost in the shuffle of kennel life, is overflowing with affection to give. His heart is as big as they come, and he’s destined to be a wonderful friend. We’re certain of it. Why not give one of the overlooked a chance? We’re with you every step of the way.”

Originally rescued from a kill shelter in Romania, Moose’s journey to find a stable home has been rocky.

First adoption

His first adoption fell through due to unforeseen circumstances, and his second chance at happiness was thwarted by the adopter’s failure to follow guidelines on managing Moose around other dogs.

The sanctuary suspects past mistreatment by a male, which makes Moose cautious, though he warms up with patience and care.

No offers yet

Despite the social media attention, Moose is yet to receive any concrete adoption offers.

A few prospective families have reached out, but no one has followed through with their meet-and-greet appointments.

The sanctuary describes Moose’s ideal home as one with adults, where he can be the only pet.

His new family should be prepared for active days filled with walks and play in secure areas, having experience with or a willingness to accommodate a reactive dog.

About Moose

Moose, who is small to medium-sized and weighs around 13 kilograms (28.6 pounds), is a bundle of joy who loves to play and explore.

He’s eager for affection, enjoys showing off his zoomies, and walks beautifully on a leash.

A smart dog, Moose knows several commands and is always ready to learn more.

He’s in great health, fully vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped, waiting for someone to give him the loving home he deserves.

The video spotlighting Moose’s quest for a family has garnered over 15,500 views and 1,400 likes on TikTok, yet the perfect match remains elusive.
