A heartbreaking discovery in Roselle, New Jersey, has sparked community outrage and led to criminal charges after a dog was found abandoned and tied to a fence.
Police officers responded to a residential area after receiving reports of an animal left completely unattended.
Upon arrival, authorities discovered a striking Siberian Husky chained to a metal fence in a yard covered with autumn leaves, with no food, water, or shelter anywhere in sight.

Local law enforcement launched an immediate investigation into the incident to identify who was responsible for the pet’s neglect. Investigators quickly determined that the dog’s owners had recently packed up their belongings and moved out of the state to Georgia, deliberately leaving their family pet behind to fend for itself. Neighbors noted that the property had appeared vacant, making the sudden discovery of the tied-up dog all the more shocking.
The abandoned Husky was immediately rescued from the chain and taken to a local animal control facility, where shelter staff provided the hungry pup with a safe space, fresh water, and a thorough medical evaluation. Thankfully, despite the terrifying ordeal, the dog was found to be in relatively good physical health. Police have since tracked down the former owners and officially charged them with animal cruelty, while local rescue groups are focusing on helping the resilient dog heal and eventually find a true forever home.
