A heartwarming celebration took place on Wednesday, August 30th, 2023, at the Bridgend rehoming center.
It was a special day because they were celebrating Ty, a 23-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross.
Can you believe that?
At 23, Ty is thought to be the oldest dog ever cared for by Dogs Trust, and they were marking his one-year ‘Gotcha Day’ anniversary.
Ty’s humans, Bruno di Brito and Lee Szopa from Penarth, are over the moon with the joy and companionship Ty has brought into their lives.
The feeling we have for this dog is absolutely amazing. We feel blessed to have him with us; he’s part of the family, and we hope to share many more years with him. When Ty came into our lives, we felt complete. We already had two dogs and hadn’t considered getting another, but when we saw Ty, we knew we had to give him a home. Ty has changed our perception of senior dogs; despite having a heart problem, he shows incredible resilience. The way Ty looks at us feels like he’s saying thank you for everything.
