Multiple fire crews responded to a residential house fire in Herriman on Monday evening.

The incident occurred on Monday, October 26, 2026, near the 6300 West block of 11800 South in Herriman, Salt Lake County, Utah 84096, United States.

Jordan Thornblad reported on the emergency response for ABC4 on October 26, 2026.

Neighbors reported the fire at approximately 6:10 p.m., prompting an immediate response from Unified Fire Authority crews.

Upon arrival, firefighters observed heavy smoke and flames pouring from the front of the home. Crews entered the main level and quickly knocked down the active blaze.

Fortunately, no human residents were inside the home at the time of the fire. Firefighters successfully located and rescued a trapped dog from the interior, reuniting the pet safely with its owners.

No injuries were reported during the incident, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Following the event, fire safety guidelines from the American Red Cross were highlighted, emphasizing the importance of keeping flammable materials away from heating sources, inspecting electrical cords, and safely managing lithium-ion battery charging.

My thoughts:

  • Rapid response by local fire crews prevents residential fires from consuming entire neighborhood structures.
  • Searching burning homes for trapped pets is a critical priority for responding firefighters.
  • Neighbor reports ensure timely emergency dispatch before fires spread to adjacent homes.
  • Adhering to American Red Cross fire prevention tips helps reduce common household fire hazards.
  • Ensuring pets are not trapped during sudden emergencies requires proactive home safety planning.
  • Multi-agency coordination ensures efficient fire suppression and scene containment.
