Four shelter dogs from Georgia were flown to Florida on a rescue flight to escape overcrowding and find permanent homes.
The transport flight took place on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, landing in Tallahassee, Leon County, Florida 32301, United States.
The Tallahassee Democrat published details of the life-saving aviation mission on October 28, 2026.

The aircraft utilized for the flight, named “Little Paw,” carries a notable history, having previously belonged to Tom Scholz, founder and lead guitarist of the rock band Boston.
Scholz and his wife Kim donated the airplane to Pilots To The Rescue, a non-profit organization dedicated to transporting at-risk shelter animals.
Michael Schneider, founder and chief pilot of Pilots To The Rescue, piloted the flight from Georgia to Tallahassee.
The flight relocated four dogs at risk of euthanasia due to severe shelter overcrowding.
Among the passengers were Flint and Addy, two strays transferred from Polk County Animal Control in Cedartown, Georgia, as well as two puppies named Mike and Lucy, who were transferred from Rockdale County Animal Services in Conyers, Georgia.
Upon arrival in Tallahassee, Flint and Addy entered foster care through Ewenity Farm Herding Dog Haven, while Mike and Lucy were transferred to Karma’s Haven Animal Rescue for adoption placement.
My thoughts:
- Relocating shelter animals from high-capacity rural facilities to regional rescue partners prevents unnecessary euthanasia.
- Private aviation donations significantly expand the reach and efficiency of non-profit animal rescue organizations.
- Overcrowding in municipal shelters remains a critical challenge requiring active national transport networks.
- Dedicated volunteer pilots play a vital role in providing second chances for at-risk rescue dogs.
- Strategic partnerships between municipal animal control units and specialized rescue groups save vulnerable stray populations.
- Foster networks provide essential transitional environments for rescued dogs awaiting permanent adoption.
