A French Bulldog named Mindy was left on the streets, neglected and by most accounts not expected to survive much longer. She was eventually rescued and taken in by a foster home, where her new foster mom began documenting her recovery online.

The clip shared on Instagram opens with Mindy’s first car ride to safety, where she settles into the passenger seat cushioned with a neck pillow.
From there, the video follows a string of small milestones, playing with a toy for the first time, meeting her foster dad, and having her first treat.
On screen text accompanying the clip reads, “From neglected and left on the streets to die, to lots of new firsts.”
The video quickly resonated with viewers online, many of whom pointed to how visibly different Mindy seemed once she was somewhere safe, still recovering, still wearing a protective cone, but clearly more at ease than the conditions she’d come from.
Commentary: There’s something disarming about watching a list of “firsts” that most pets take completely for granted, a car ride, a toy, a treat, framed instead as milestones for a dog who nearly didn’t get the chance to experience them at all. It’s a good reminder of how much of what looks like an ordinary pet’s life is actually the result of someone deciding to show up for an animal that had nobody else.
