What started as an ordinary Friday afternoon in Leon Springs, Texas, turned into a terrifying ambush for Noemi Moreno, and a moment of unexpected heroism from her family’s dog.
Moreno had just left a bank after cashing a few checks and driven to her mother-in-law’s home to pick up her kids.
Security footage shows a red SUV pulling up behind her moments after she parked, and two men in black clothing and ski masks jumping out and rushing toward her.
Moreno believes the men had followed her from the bank, though she wasn’t aware of it at the time.
One of the men grabbed her purse with enough force to throw her to the ground. Moreno said the attack happened so fast it felt like it was moving in slow motion, and that she screamed as she hit the pavement, still holding onto her purse and trying to fight the men off.
That’s when Rambo, her mother-in-law’s pit bull, sprang into action. He rushed toward the attackers, and the two men abandoned the struggle almost immediately, running back to their SUV and speeding away. Family members inside the house heard the commotion, rushed out to help Moreno, and called 911.

Moreno was shaken but unharmed. She credited Rambo directly with preventing the situation from escalating further, saying simply that he saved her. In the aftermath, she said she’s become far more cautious when she’s out alone, staying more aware of her surroundings than she used to be.
The incident remains under investigation, and Moreno says she hopes the men responsible are caught before they target anyone else.
